BMW CE 04, powered by a 15 kW electric motor, promises a 130 km range and 120 km/h top speed
BMW Motorrad, the two wheeler division of the German luxury car maker has launched a new and highly exclusive electric scooter in India. Called the BMW CE 04, this flagship electric scooter that is coming in as a completely built up unit (CBU), will be the most expensive in its segment.
BMW CE 04 – Advanced Technology
BMW Motorrad’s first electric scooter in India, BMW CE 04 is built on a steel double loop frame and is set apart in terms of features, advanced technology and safety equipment. It boasts of a futuristic stance, large aprons and a flat body with an expansive bench like seat.

BMW CE 04 commands a strong road presence. Dimensions stand at 2,285mm in length and 855mm in width with a flat bench type seat with height at 780mm. The seat can also be increased to 800mm, while it rides on 15 inch wheels at the front and rear.
Where on-board technology is concerned, the BMW CE 04 receives a 10.25 inch TFT display for both connectivity and navigation with BMW Motorrad Connectivity. It also comes in with a USB type-Charger and a ventilated storage space for smartphones besides a helmet storage compartment.

It offers three riding modes of Road, Rain and Eco for varying conditions. It gets dynamic traction control, ABS Pro system as optional extras while safety is managed via ACS and traction control. Where suspension is concerned, the BMW CE 04 gets a single bridge telescopic fork and single sided swing arm with direct hinged suspension strut at the front and rear respectively.

BMW CE 04 – Power and Performance
BMW CE 04 draws its power via a 15kW electric motor that offers 41 hp peak power at 4,900 rpm and 61 Nm torque at 1,500 rpm. It allows for acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.6 seconds to hit a top speed of 120 km/h. Braking duties are handled via 265mm disc on the front and rear with standard ABS.
It receives an 8.9 kWh battery that claims a 130 km range on single charge. The battery supports DC fast charging and can be charged from 0-100% in 1 hour 40 minutes. Via a standard charger, the electric scooter takes just over 4 hours for a full battery top up.

BMW CE 04, being the most expensive electric scooter in the country, sees no direct rivals in its class in India. With bookings being opened, customers in India can place their orders via select authorized BMW Motorrad dealerships. Following the successful launch of the BMW CE 04, the company also plans launch of CE 02, which is expected to launch in India after a few months.

As part of its plans to strengthen its presence in India, Citroen will be launching the Basalt coupe-SUV. The global debut is scheduled for 2nd August and launch is expected soon after. Let’s take a look at all the details we have about Citroen’s latest model for India.
Citroen Basalt – Styling and features
While all Citroen cars have a sporty profile, the Basalt Vision is probably the company’s best foot forward till date for the Indian market. The coupe profile creates attractive visuals that instantly get one’s attention. The front fascia captivates your senses with some radical styling bits. There are similarities with C3 Aircross, but new elements help achieve a distinct profile. Basalt coupe-SUV will be getting some exclusive colour options to make it stand out even more.

Side profile is distinguishable with its sloping roofline and blacked-out pillars. Citroen Basalt has thick body cladding and 17-inch sporty alloy wheels. At the rear, Basalt gets edgy taillamps and a rugged bumper.
Citroen Basalt – Interiors
As the compact SUV segment has some formidable rivals, Citroen Basalt will be getting a comprehensive range of premium features. Teasers have revealed leatherette seat upholstery, front and rear armrests and side supports for headrests. Other highlights include auto climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster with a tachometer and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Citroen Basalt will have 6-airbags, auto headlights, push button start, keyless entry and auto-dimming IRVMs. Top variants will be equipped with a sunroof. It has been confirmed that Citroen Basalt will have the same dashboard as seen with C3 Aircross.

Citroen Basalt – Powertrain options
Powering Citroen Basalt will be the 1.2-litre petrol engine in use with C3 Aircross. It delivers 110 PS and 205 Nm. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic. Torque output drops to 190 Nm with the manual gearbox.
Citroen Basalt – Competition check
From a design perspective, Citroen Basalt will take on the upcoming Tata Curvv. As compared to Basalt that has only a single petrol engine, Tata Curvv will have two petrol and one diesel engine option. Currv will also be available in electric format. Other rivals for Citroen Basalt include popular compact SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota HyRyder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.

Citroen Basalt – Launch and pricing
Citroen will reveal the Basalt coupe-SUV on 2nd August. It will be followed by a launch soon after. Tata Curvv will also be launched in the same month on the 7th. It is reported that production of Citroen Basalt has already commenced in mid-June.
In the company’s lineup, Basalt will be positioned above the C3 Aircross. As such, one can expect a slightly higher pricing. Citroen Basalt is expected to be offered in the price range of around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

July 24, 2024With Indian citizens enjoying visa-free entry to 58 foreign destinations, the Henley Passport Index 2024 has ranked the country's passport at the 82nd position. An Indian passport holder can travel visa-free to popular tourist destinations like Indonesia, Maldives, and Thailand.

Singapore clinched the top spot as the world's most powerful passport as citizens of this city-state enjoy visa-free access to an impressive 195 countries. France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Japan have the second most powerful passport, each providing visa-free access to 192 destinations.
Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden share the third position, with visa-free entry to 191 countries.
The United Kingdom, alongside New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland, ranks fourth, offering visa-free access to 190 countries. Australia and Portugal jointly occupy the fifth spot with visa-free travel to 189 destinations.
The United States, meanwhile, has slipped to the eighth position, now allowing its citizens visa-free entry to 186 countries.
A total of 34 countries are ranked in top 10 most powerful passports.
The Henley Passport Index is based on data from the International Air Transport Authority (IATA).
The index assumes that passport holders meet all basic entry requirements, are adult citizens traveling alone, and seek entry for tourist or business purposes for short stays. It excludes complex scenarios like diplomatic travel, emergency or temporary passports, and transit stays.
