Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 launch

Royal Enfield had planned to launch the Himalayan Raid by late 2026/early 2027. However, the company has now preponed the project to early 2026. The Himalayan Raid is based on the current Himalayan but will be a more advanced off-road motorcycle.

Royal Enfiled is developing the bike under the code name ‘Project K1X.’  The company’s R&D team in India and the UK are co-developing the Himalayan Raid. Moreover, the company’s new racing team based in Europe is also participating in the development of the bike.

To stand out from the Himalayan, the Himalayan Raid will feature better and more capable cycle parts than the current model. Meanwhile, the other cycle parts will be same as the current model. It is also said to receive new and fully adjustable suspension for compression and rebound at both front and rear. Apart from this, the bike will be equipped with much larger fork tubes.

This ADV will also get rally parts as standard. Currently, Indian consumers can buy the rally tail section, rally seat, handguards, and a few more things as accessories. However, with the Raid variant, these will come as standard features, including tubeless spoke wheels.

While Royal enfiled is upgrading the 452cc engine that will provide more power and torque. Reports have also indicated that Himalayan Raid is likely to carry the same performance as the current model. It will remain to be seen whether the Himalayan Raid will get the upgraded the 452cc engine or the current one.

Price wise, the Himalayan Raid might range around Rs. 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it close to the newly launched KTM 390 Adventure. The idea behind the Himalayan Raid is for Royal Enfield to take on some of the KTM buyers in India and around the world. However, given KTM’s distinct fan following, it will be interesting to see how Royal Enfield markets the Raid.
